INTERNATIONAL WRESTLING CARTEL

March 9th, 2006
(Normally, I would wait until the week of a show to give my preview, but I have a big column planned for next week that will take some time to get together, so instead I will do my preview this week.)

There has been such incredible anticipation for the "Road to Super Indy V" event on March 18th in Elizabeth, PA.

The Court Time Sports Center has already seen some big things in its time hosting IWC events. This one, however, may just blow the roof literally off of the place.

I know I've said this before, but the time is now! Shirley Doe's World title reign will be finished at the hands of Sterling James Keenan. SJK is viewed as IWC's biggest star, and this drives Doe insane. Well, more so. These two first met in IWC back in November of 2002, and it all comes full circle, as these two are now involved in an epic battle. The disqualification rule has been waived, so if there is any outside interference from Doe's so-called minions, the title will indeed change hands.

The other person that gives SJK a challenge for being IWC's biggest star is "Fabulous" John McChesney. His breakout performance was at Super Indy IV last year against Low Ki. Speaking of full circle, the man McChesney defeated to win the SI title will also be his last challenger. Low Ki's reputation in this business is very well known. Fab's reputation is ascending with no signs of stopping. As big as his matches against Ki, CM Punk, Chris Daniels, Chris Sabin, AJ Styles, Shannon Moore, and so on have big, this match against Ki will far and away be McChesney's defining moment.

By far, the funniest thing I've read lately was a "Smother Brothers" reference to Tracy Smothers and "Stacy" Smothers. I'll be honest with all of you. I had a few leads on Smothers' partner last month, but this week, I've got nothing. The Gambinos are still chugging along as the premier tag team in the area, but can they compete with the veteran and his... brother?

Dennis Gregory is a legend in this area. He fought for our country overseas, and though it's not nearly comparable, now he is fighting for IWC's honor. All he has to do? Wrestle Abyss. Gregory was the sole survivor at "Accept No Limitations 2" in the six-man against the Unholy Alliance. However, Abyss just may be unstoppable. Regardless of what happens, this should be incredible to watch.

Troy Lords and Shiima Xion. Again, I will NEVER tire of seeing these two against each other. I have been extremely fortunate to officiate three matches between these men. Each time, you can see the improvement in both, and the hatred increase. Throw in the "Super Indy V" spot, and things are about to reach a climax.

Larry Sweeney was to face Jason Gory in an "Eye of the Hurricane" match next week, but that match has been canceled due to Sweeney's heinous attack last month. Instead, Sweeney will be defending his ICW/ICWA Tex-Arkana Television Title against Japanese sensation KUDO. KUDO is making quite the name for himself, and he may very well add Sweeney's title to his resume.

Sebastian Dark and Dean Radford have a storied past. It's not everyday you get shoved into the trunk of someone's car and get dumped in the desert, like what happened to Radford. Both of these men are on the verge of breaking out, but first, they have to get through this war.

Jon Bolen is undefeated in singles competition in IWC, and he now faces his toughest test in HENTAI. Even though he is giving up size, HENTAI is a veteran who can defeat anybody. Raw power and size vs experience and talent. This one could really go either way.

When J-Rocc took on Dirk Ciglar last month, Ray Rowe and Jason Cage were in the respective corners. J-Rocc won with controversy due to Rowe's interference. Now, all four will combine for a big tag team contest. Is this the formation of the "New" Ohio Players? Can Cage and Ciglar form a team that will take a charge at the tag titles, as some seem to believe is possible?

Jesse Titan Mark had been making random appearances at IWC events all through 2005. He has made great strides at the Coalition of Competition since he first started there. I personally don't know of any personal heat between himself and Jimmy Demarco, but there is definitely a problem there. Is it only because Demarco has been booked on some shows while the former Mark hasn't? Or is there more? Either way, we will see a Vendetta on the 18th.
