Saturday night, September
16th is "Boiling Point 2" at the Court Time Sports Center in Elizabeth,
PA. That night, Jimmy Demarco takes on Vendetta, Dean Radford battles
Jason Cage, a four-way tag team scramble for the tag team titles will
occur, and Sebastian Dark will put an end to that thorn named CJ
Sensation.
Of course, that night
will also see the crowning of a new IWC heavyweight champion in an
eight-man, one-night tournament.
This will be the
third title tournament in IWC's history. Orion became the champion
on September 29th, 2001 by defeating Jimmy Vega$ in the finals in
McKees Rocks, PA.
Colt Cabana won over
Shirley Doe in Canonsburg, PA on July 20, 2002.
Now, over four years
later, here we go again. This time, the eight men in the tournament
are Low Ki, John McChesney, Shirley Doe, HENTAI, Sterling James
Keenan, Troy Lords, Glenn Spectre, and Ricky Reyes.
Let's take a look at
the eight competitors individually.
Low Ki- The current
reigning TNA X-division champion, Ki is the most world-renowned
entrant. He was never defeated for the IWC Super Indy title this
year, and has not had a rematch for the title. Instead, he will be
competing for his first IWC heavyweight championship. Ki may very
well be the favorite, but it my opinion, he will not be successful.
John McChesney- The
main that beat Low Ki to win Super Indy 4, McChesney was unbeatable
for nearly a year. Is the next logical step the heavyweight
championship? Well, no.
Sterling James
Keenan- Why exactly is he in this tournament? Since his return to
IWC, he's done nothing to earn a spot in this tournament. How come
SJK is ranked number five? Why is Dean Radford ranked number six?
Why isn't HE in the tournament? Keenan doesn't deserve to be in this
tournament, much less in this company. His chances? None.
Troy Lords- Another
proverbial thorn in the collective sides of the Unholy Alliance. It
is well known that I have been a big fan of Troy Lords for quite
some time. Well, I've been a fan of Troy Lords the wrestler, not
Troy Lords the person. I've always thought that Lords has been one
of the most underrated and underappreciated wrestlers on the
independent scene. However, he has been in way over his head ever
since trying to step up for IWC against the Alliance. Will he win
the tournament? Not on your life.
Glenn Spectre- Will
he even be able to lift his arm after the beating he was given by my
boys at "No Excuses 2"? Vendetta should have been given his spot in
this tournament after his defeating of Spectre earlier this month.
Good luck, Glenn, as you're going to need it.
Ricky Reyes- Why does
he have a problem with me? At Uncaged Fury, Reyes claimed that I
"didn't see" Larry Sweeney's feet on the ropes when Sweeney pinned
Reyes. That's what I call a whiner, NOT a winner. Would you like to
see Reyes as your heavyweight champion? The odds may be in his
favor, but it will not happen.
Shirley Doe and
HENTAI- I think we're all in agreement when I say that one of these
two men will be your new IWC heavyweight champion. Doe, if he wins,
would be the first DESERVING three-time champion in IWC's history.
Of course, Dennis Gregory was the first three-time champion, but
after the conspiracy and screwjob in May at "Hell Hath No Fury 2",
Gregory was far from a deserving champion. HENTAI could become the
first triple-crown champion (of titles defended regularly stateside)
in IWC's history.
We may have to get a
second heavyweight championship made up. After all, it wouldn't be
right for Shirley Doe and HENTAI to be forced to share one title
belt when they are co-champions, would it?
