INTERNATIONAL WRESTLING CARTEL

September 6, 2005

(Let's see if I can walk that fine line. Some of you will now what that line is when this column is over...)

I have decided to forego what I had planned for this week's column, and have gone to the complete other end of the spectrum.

In this day and age, the general wrestling fan has completely lost sight of everything. I don't mean to lump everyone together, but the typical fan off the street is what I'm referring to here.

Actually, as much as this may be shooting myself in the foot, I am talking more about the internet wrestling fan.

The same people who may be actually reading this.

I can't grasp why someone would go onto a message board of that company's website, and be so damn critical about the company. There's a difference between making good points and offering ideas on how the company can improve, and basically flaming the company.

The thing the irritates me more than anything, is after sitting there tearing apart a show, closing by saying something like, "Great job IWC!!!"

I understand that there will be times that some people will never be completely satisfied. But the purpose of the IWC message board is to discuss the product, not to tear apart the product and second-guess EVERYTHING.

We've all played the proverbial "Monday-morning quarterback" (or whatever you'd like to call it), but some people just take it too far.

Saying that Jake Garrett shouldn't get an IWC title shot. Well, he challenged Shirley Doe to a match, and Doe accepted. Besides, he won a match to earn a title shot. Um, this would mean he gets that title shot.

What a concept!!

How many times have people complained about what the belts look like??

The old ECW TV title was a knockoff of the old WWF winged-eagle title. The tag titles were copies of the old IC title. And on and on it goes.

People. It is a belt. Who cares what they look like?? How many times have we seen champions come up without any belt at all?? Besides, as I just read, the man makes the belt, not vice versa.

I guess I have just one question... why can't we all be thankful for and enjoy what we have??

With feds with bigger reps like 3PW closing (or did it?), IWA Mid-South being on death's door supposedly, Pro Wrestling Iron finishing up, and so on, we are pretty fortunate.

Look at some of the things we have seen presented by IWC. For a lot of us, we only had to go minutes from home to see things that we would either only see on tape, or never see at all.

IWC has provided some moments that will never be duplicated.

IWC is an experience. Be glad we can experience it.

Let up.

Grow up.

Enjoy.
