Hidaka!! MASATO!!
I have a TON to say about these three in the near future, and the fan in me can not wait until Novmeber when they all hit the IWC. Well, IWC unfortunately will not be having a show this Saturday night. However, fear not. If you were one of those that bought your Shannon Moore figure from an enemy of mine in anticipation, you will still get your chance. This does leave me open to see the Mark Wills, Emerson Drive, and Midnite Run concert, however. It was great to kick back and watch a show this past weekend with some IWC fans. Some, I know very well. Some, I have only spoken to a few times before, but I sure had a lot of fun with them on Saturday. Overall, this was one of the funnest weekends I've had in quite a while. Like Colt Cabana says: Good Times, Great Memories. Now, onto more important matters. Right now is a great time to be a wrestling fan. With the craziness currently ongoing in the wrestling world, how things will settle is anyone's guess. The WWE/USA Network - UFC/TNA/Spike TV situation is going to result in better days for us wrasslin' (and MMA) fans. Just like the Monday Night Wars beginning in 1995, the true winners are the fans. Competition makes things better for all of us, and this new Monday night war will indeed affect IWC directly. Both TNA and WWE stepped it up the past two Sundays with incredible PPVs. Even the matches that should have been horrendous were decent at worst. Everybody is forced to step up their game, making the product more exciting. Making the product more exciting will hopefully lead to increased interest. Remember ten years ago when someone could appear on either RAW or Nitro and then appear at an indy show and draw, regardless of who they were?? With people like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Chris Daniels (the three of whom had a five-star match according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter at the last TNA PPV), Chris Sabin, Petey Williams, etc already being IWC competitors, increased exposure on Spike could only help them with every return trip to IWC, which in return helps raise the profile of IWC. Not to mention, any other talent that may debut for IWC from TNA in the future as well. Don't get me wrong- I know this does not apply to only IWC, but that is the topic of discussion at the moment. TNA debuts on Spike TV Saturday nights starting October 1st, with replays Monday nights at midnight. The potential for both Saturday and Monday to be seperate, first-run shows is reported to exist, so who knows how that will filter out. Granted, something can be said for overexposure, but as long as what is being offered is entertaining to the casual fan, interest should increase. Pro wrestling and MMA appear to be on the upswing again. Regardless of how this all ends up at the end, it will be a great time to be a fan again. Bring on the Monday night wars. Bring on its effects on IWC. -Steven Colter { - RETURN TO THE MAIN PAGE - } |
