![]() AUGUST 3, 2005 From The Bully Pulpit 3: Bully Pulpit With A Vengeance Yeah, I forgot to mention to IWC's illustrious webmaster last week that I wanted the column to be titled From The Bully Pulpit 2: Electric Boogaloo. You know... because I think I'm funny. How was your week? Really? That's nice becasue mine sucked complete goat horns. Every team in the NHL is signing hot free agents and my beloved Maple Leafs do what? They resign Tie Domi with his ham hands and his cement head and they sign Jason Allison. He may turn out to be a boon to the team but the guy's been injured for most of the past two years. What it boils down to is inept management skating by because their fanbase is so rabidly loyal that they'll blindly throw good money after bad year after year no matter how bad their product is. Why do I bring this up at the start of my weekly IWC column? No reason. But it does remind me to tell all you Matt Hardy fans that you can now enjoy him wrestling on Monday Night Raw every week again. Ahem... Now on to people who still deserve the attention of IWC's fans. I wish, for my own personal amusement, that when Jesse Titan Mark had his little episodes he'd wig out more like 80's stars like Jake Roberts and George Steele and Jim Duggan. I'm old. Cater to me. So Sandman is coming back for a shot at Shirley Doe's Heavyweight title, eh? I'm never quite sure what I think of Hak. As a fan, do I like him or hate him? As a wrestler, do I respect him? Regardless of any of that mess, I can definitely say that in the ring, the locker room and the bar after the show; whether he's wrestling, talking or generally being a human car wreck, Sandman has never failed to entertain me and you'd be foolish to pass up the chance to come see him do his thing. I've been doing a lot of stuff lately for this 1PW group I'm working for in England. It's being run by the company that distributes IWC's dvds in the UK, 1 Up Games. I'm very pleased to announce that the "Super Indy Killer", Sterling James Keenan has, just today, been added to the line-up for their first show in October. This shouldn't surprise anyone though with the big splash that IWC's "homegrown" talent is making on the indy scene of late. Doe and Spectre have made multiple trips to Japan in recent months. Spectre is also NWA Upstate champ right now and he and Super Indy champ John McChesney have started working for the BaseBrawl Series in Buffalo. McChesney and the aforementioned SJK are both getting a shot at Ring Of Honor. The Gambinos are starting to travel. Shiima is starting to travel. Sebastian Dark is talking to people. HENTAI, who knows all about trips to Japan, is being looked at by other Pacific Rim interests. Its just really good to see our very talented roster spreading its wings. Until next week, try and remember that if you were as smart as I am, then you'd be writing this column. -Rev. Anthony Kingdom James { - RETURN TO THE MAIN PAGE - } |
