Tag Team Champions The Gambino Brothers (Mickey & Marshall

IWC ended its calendar year with A Call to Arms 5 on Saturday night, December
20. In the main event, Eric Xtasy & Justin Idol survived a three-team
elimination match to make Sexual Harassment once again IWC Tag Team Champions!
The elimination of the third team in play, Dave & Jake Crist of Irish Airborne,
saw their night cut short under controversial means, with the official counting
3 without noticing Jake’s foot on the bottom rope. Airborne pleaded their case
to no avail, and in an act of frustration went as far as to attack Harassment
later on in the match, nearly crushing their championship dreams. As the
Gambinos fought on with flunky Ferrari at ringside, Viki Gambino was emotionless
and disinterested, clearly signifying her torn allegiance from within the
Family. The rift widened when Gambino cousin “DeeeLicious” Jimmy DeMarco was
instrumental in the defeat of Mickey & Marshall. Sexual Harassment are champions
again, with Irish Airborne hot on their heels, while the rift in the Family
continues to widen with escalating friction, a struggle for power, and Viki
Gambino caught in the middle.
A wild and physical six man tag team war saw IWC Champion Shiima Xion re-unite
Babyface Fire with Jason Gory, and also join forces with formerchampion Ricky
Reyes to defeat the re-formed Cleveland Mafia of Ray Rowe, J-Rocc, and Shane
Taylor, however the true story here had little to do with the actual match.
Following a Cleveland Mafia sneak attack on their foes immediately after the
match, Ray Rowe cut the celebration short, with a shocking clothesline delivered
to J-Rocc, just weeks after re-uniting with him. A surefire explosion between
Rowe and Shane Taylor was defused quickly when Taylor joined Rowe in the assault
on J-Rocc. To make matters even more chaotic, Ricky Reyes locked champion Shiima
Xion in the lethal dragon sleeper. After a heated personal, and nearly physical
altercation between Reyes and our promoter, Reyes, Rowe, and Taylor left togther,
taking IWC’s most physically imposing faction, and somehow making it even more
dangerous. How and why has this happened? And perhaps more importantly, what’s
next, and who can stop it?
Super Indy champion Delirious successfully defended his championship over
perhaps the most talked about athlete in independent wrestling today “The New
Horror” Sami Callihan. But after such a strong performance against a 2-time
champion, can IWC gold be that far ahead in Callihan’s future?
One month after being called out before their scheduled match-time by Dennis
Gregory, John McChesney returned the favor. Holding the very shirt he wore when
he first confronted Gregory as a fan some ten years ago, McChesney promised to
shove it down Gregory’s throat and prove Gregory to be a ‘bum’. When Gregory
emerged McChesney, not about to let Gregory’s screwdriver attack happen once
again, had a plan. With a roll of quarters in hand, The Fabulous One delivered a
knock-out punch, and let the fans count his unofficial pinfall over the former
5-time champion. Gregory’s assertion that McChesney will always be a follower
and not a leader certainly didn’t ring true tonight as McChesney takes one step
farther in proving HE was the true reason for success in Gregory’s War Machine.
“Sweet & Sour” Larry Sweeney, the most charismatic entity in IWC history, had a
busy Call to Arms this year. The “Sour” of Sweet & Sour came out as Sweeney
accepted a large payoff from Mickey & Marshall Gambino in an attempt to take out
their rebellious cousin “DeeeLicious” Jimmy DeMarco. While DeMarco was able to
catch an upset victory, Sweeney re-introduced IWC to his lethal side, severely
damaging DeMarco’s knee, shoulder, and lacerating his head. With his tag partner
Vendetta out indefinitely thanks to a Gambino attack, will the self-described
Pope of Grope DeMarco be able to survive the direct and indirect wrath of The
Family?
Sweeney also debuted his brand new interview segment “Sweeney’s Swaghouse”, and
who could be more fitting as a first guest than Larry Sweeney himself. Sweeney
soaked in the spotlight as he somehow interviewed himself, as the multi-time
ICW/ICWA Texarkana Television Champion’s ego seemed to grow to heights not seen
in IWC in recent years. Sweeney even went so far as to call out “Nature Boy” Ric
Flair for next month’s “A New Beginning Woo”. Before long, Sweeney introduced
his real guest… Chest Flexor, of the Gambino entourage, who has seen himself
enter IWC rings as an active competitor in some less-than-advantageous
circumstances lately. After a brief interview, Sweeney was tired of sharing the
spotlight, attacking Flexor unprovoked, knocking him out. Unfortunately, Flexor
then had a match… against the man who put Super Indy on the map… Super Hentai.
Hentai made short work of Flexor, and also fended off an attack from the
still-fired CJ Sensation from the crowd, before hearing good news from our
promoter: As a result of Hentai’s requests, the annual Super Indy Tournament is
back… however Hentai must now qualify. The work to bring back the tournament is
done but with the glory of the tournament, comes the sacrifice and effort to get
there, and for Hentai that road begins now.
In women’s action, manager and interpreter for Delirious, Daizee Haze defeated
Midwest standout Nevaeh in one-on-one action, much needed momentum leading into
her scheduled match-up next month against former WCW star and one of the most
unpredictable women around, Daffney.
The young lions of IWC continued their great series, as Michael “The Bomber”
Façade collided with Logan Shulo in a winning effort to even the series 1-1.
Façade was able to counter the powerbomb that finished him last month, and
connect with a 720-degree DDT he calls “Defamation of Character”. While Façade
and Shulo’s score is largely unsettled, one thing for sure is IWC’s future is
brighter than ever. |
