DeMarco Career Comes To
Close As Internal Unrest Rises
Saturday night, November 20 at the Court Time Sports Center in Elizabeth, PA was
the very aptly named “Winner Takes All”, but it wasn’t just about taking all, it
was about losing everything. One man was to leave as IWC Champion, the other was
just simply to leave, as “Big League” John McChesney challenged “DeeeLicious”
Jimmy DeMarco in a Last Man Standing Career vs. Career Match.
The mood was raucous all night, hitting a fever pitch as perhaps the most lively
and vocal crowd in IWC history converged together to witness this
course-altering encounter. The mood was proven to be one-of-a-kind experience
early, with an entrance that only Jimmy DeMarco could make, including the
listing of over two dozen nicknames he’s held throughout his career, as well as
a few special props thrown in along the way. When the bell sounded, brutality
ensued as both McChesney and DeMarco brawled all over the building, using a
variety of weapons. “Big League” revisited the damage done from several months
ago, cracking DeMarco in the skull with a steel chair. Two referees went down in
the carnage as well. McChesney even momentarily handcuffed DeMarco to the ring
ropes before assaulting the champion with a baseball bat. Undeterred, and always
showing the will to fight, DeMarco battled back and seemed poised for victory
until a sick plan unfolded before our eyes. Bubba the Bulldog, Jimmy Vega$ and
Dean Radford emerged together with a plan, seemingly out to get DeMarco, however
Jon Bolen and Super Hentai were able to even the odds for the most part.
However, when it appeared Dennis Gregory was coming to the aid of long-time ally
DeMarco, Gregory instead turned his fury onto Jimmy, taking part in the assault
himself. With every official down and DeMarco unconscious with the vultures
circling, Bubba forced IWC owner Chuck Roberts to make perhaps the most
difficult choice of his life -- Count out his friend DeMarco, and cause the end
of Jimmy DeMarco’s career, or refuse to count him and risk ending DeMarco’s
life. Chuck did what he had to do, he made the 10 count, crowning John McChesney
the new IWC Champion and Jimmy DeMarco, sadly, gone from IWC.
Jimmy had an opportunity to address the fans, thanking them for their support of
himself and the company, showcasing the passion and dedication Jimmy has had for
IWC since day one, one final time. Bubba offered Jimmy a chance to get to keep
his IWC job, that is, if DeMarco would get on his knees and beg. DeMarco, always
a stand-up guy and never politically correct, instead gave IWC one more classic
DeMarco moment, the dreaded crotch claw before fleeing into the crowd amongst
his people and riding off into the IWC sunset. On behalf of everyone at IWC, we
sincerely thank Jimmy DeMarco for the years of dedication and sacrifice to this
great organization. Jimmy will go down as one of the most talented, unique, and
entertaining competitors in IWC history, and regardless of what the future
holds, a big part of Jimmy DeMarco will always be here in IWC.
But with one chapter ending, one must question the motives of the group we saw
at the conclusion of the night, as it seems this is much more than meets the
eye.
Early in the night, Dean Radford battled Dennis Gregory to crown a new #1
contender to the IWC Title. However, rather than compete, it seemed all Radford
wanted to do was talk to Gregory and explain SOMETHING to him. Gregory, a 5x
former IWC Champion, wanted nothing more than to be back in title contention and
refused to listen, so Radford intentionally got himself, and Gregory counted
out. This was the second time Radford had walked out from a fight in recent
memory. We know Radford has claimed that IWC today isn’t the same IWC he used to
know and love, and he has largely been a man alone, but why would Dean Radford
back down from a fight?
Moments later, we saw two young graduates of the official IWC training school,
The Iron City Wrestling Academy, do battle under heavy pressure and impress, as
Tyler Stone defeated “The Feature Presentation” David DiMera. However, right
after the match, former 2-time IWC champion Jimmy Vega$ hit the ring and laid
waste to both men. Vega$ stated his frustration with not being schedule on the
event that evening, and placed the blame at IWC owner Chuck Roberts for
overlooking him. Vega$ stated there would be changes, and they would start
tonight.
Even still, we saw these men during Shiima Xion’s final test for Super Hentai
for Hentai to “prove” he deserved one last shot at the IWC Super Indy Title.
After chasing Shiima for months, and body slamming 375 lb Shane Taylor last
September, Hentai was ready for anything. Shiima sent Hentai a bizarre group of
challengers in a gauntlet style including young female rookie Sera Feeney, a
goofy young rookie who believes he’s from the future named Corey Futuristic,
followed by the capable and athletic Nicki Valentino, before sending out a
number of others at once making it a three-on-one assault. Radford & Vega$
picked this moment to pick their spot, wiping out everyone in the ring. It was
clear they weren’t working for Shiima, but had their own brutal intentions.
Their assault to Hentai seemed to physical, it almost seemed as if Shiima was
showing remorse toward Hentai for the first time.
We don’t know the exact specifics yet, but we do know by night’s end that Bubba
the Bulldog, Jimmy Vega$, Dean Radford, Dennis Gregory, and apparently new IWC
Champion John McChesney were seemingly united at night’s end. Between them, nine
IWC Title reigns, and some very conniving minds. Why would Dennis Gregory betray
Jimmy DeMarco and shake the hand of longtime rival John McChesney? Is this a
Bubba master plan? Is this a new Team Big League? What does this group want?
ROH World Champion Roderick Strong represented his home promotion well in his
Champion vs. Champion clash with IWC Super Indy Champion Shiima Xion. It was 20
minutes of hard-hitting physical competition, with Roderick utilizing his deadly
chops, devastating backbreaker variations, and smart usage of the ring itself as
an offensive weapon. Shiima attempted to counter with a quick pace, countering
Strong move for move, and luring Strong into his crossface submission to counter
Roddy’s “Stronghold”. In the end, Roderick finished Shiima with the Gibson
Driver, but following the match, made it a point to mention how impressed he was
with Shiima’s talents, and if Shiima gets his head on straight and adjusts his
attitude, he star could rise even higher. A big time endorsement from a current
World Champion, and something for Shiima to keep in mind. Did these words from
Roderick effect Shiima’s behavior later in the night with Super Hentai? And how
will it effect the future?
The incredibly personal rivalry between Justin Idol and Eric Lee Schwab came to
and end with nowhere to run in a Strap Match. Idol was able to exorcise his
proverbial demons and end the sick alleged morality cause that Schwab had been
on. For turning on his best friend, for attacking Justin’s pregnant girlfriend,
and for turning his back on everything he believed in, Justin gained retribution
for all of those wrongs. It was a Chest Flexor miscue that led to the loss,
leading to Schwab ending his partnership with Flexor, dropping him with the
Flash Delirium DDT.
IWC Tag Champions Flippin’ Ain’t Easy, Michael “The Bomber” Façade & Jason Gory,
showed another clear mark of a champion, and they performed under pressure and
adjusted to a last-minute change. With Aeroform not in attendance due to
illness, signed to challenge Façade & Gory were the team of “Hit & Run”, the
team of Ashley Sixx & “Canadian Crazy Horse” Michael Elgin, who brought a unique
blend of agility and power with them. Despite training for an entirely different
team, FAE were able to rise to the occasion and utilize the patented buddy
moonsault to help them retain the tag team titles once again.
Although Chuck Roberts’ night ended terribly, he did get a few moments in the
sun earlier in the night, outsmarting Director of IWC Wrestling Operations Bubba
the Bulldog in two key moments. Firstly, was luring Bubba into a match to
determine a NEW #1 Contender to the IWC Title after the double-countout ending
in our previous attempt, as Bubba would have to wrestle… Bolen. Not just Bolen…
an angry Bolen. Before night’s end, Bubba felt the Meltdown, and Bolen is
waiting in the wings to challenge the IWC Champion as the new #1 Contender.
Chuck also tricked Bubba into signing some very special documentation. What
Bubba had thought was his #1 Contender’s contract turned out to be something
else. Bubba was feeling very sure of himself after firing the suspiciously
masked tag team “Los Dagos” moments beforehand, however with that document he
had just signed, he had unknowingly re-instated … Mickey & Marshall Gambino!
Much to Bubba’s chagrin, Mickey & Marshall, no masks, no disguises, went into
battle against Irish Airborne, Dave & Jake Crist, who have never been shy about
doing favors and taking shortcuts since entering IWC, and the same team that
beat The Gambinos to force Mickey & Marshall out of IWC one year before.
However, in a truly inspirational story, not only did they return, but The
Gambino Family defeated the Airborne to become #1 Contenders to the tag team
title! Can The Gambinos score a record 6th tag title reign? And how will the
champions react at the thought of facing some old foes once again?
Also, Matthew Justice overcame “The Frontman” Logan Shulo for the second time in
a row to score some major momentum on his side, looking forward to a Super Indy
title shot this upcoming year in Clearfield. Justice seems bigger and better
than he’s ever been, but is he good enough to wear IWC gold?
