May 3, 2013 at the Court Time Sports Center in Elizabeth, PA saw one of the most
unusual and unpredictable IWC events in recent memory with "The Road To Super
Indy XII". There was a vibe in the air like never before and it all centered
around what could be the most competitive Super Indy Tournament ever coming next
month!
The main event certainly had extra added Super Indy implications, as IWC
Champion John McChesney & one-half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions Bobby
Fish battled "Heavy Metal Jesus" Logan Shulo & the man who never lost the Super
Indy Title "Neon Ninja" Facade. Stakes were raised early in the night when a
stipulations was added that if Shulo & Facade were victorious, Chuck Roberts
could hand-select all of Team Big League's Super Indy matches without any
interference from Team Big League Executive Consultant Norm Connors. However,
should Team Big League win, Norm would be in charge of Shulo's & Facade's fates
next month. Furthermore, it was agreed that the other members of Team Big League
would be banned from ringside!
While Team Big League were not present at ringside, another dangerous entity
was... Gory. As Logan & Facade seemed poised to bring home victory and a small
measure of revenge for all the wrongs perpetrated by their rivals, the lights
went black. Once power was restored, Gory was face to face with Facade in an IWC
ring for the first time in nine months, and seemed ready to strike. Facade had
an equalizer, however. Knowing Gory all too well, Facade had his spraypaint can
ready, and was prepared to spray Gory in the eyes when Gory moved, leading to
Facade accidentally blinding Shulo! The lights went black once again, with Gory
vanishing and Facade in hot pursuit. This, sadly, left Logan alone 2-on-1 and
blinded and from there Team Big League picked up the scraps and escaped
victorious again. Shulo, irate after being screwed over yet again, snapped,
assaulting IWC staff and chasing Team Big League to the back. But what chance
will Logan have of retribution with Norm Connors calling the shots in a month's
time?
The Super Indy Tournament itself became a much clearer picture with several
names added to the picture. Anthony Nese retained his title over IWC Tag
Champion Colin Delaney, officially adding himself to the mix as defending
champion? Could Nese become the first man to ever enter Super Indy as champion
and exit as well?
In addition, Gory emphatically defeated Mike Rayne to cement his status back in
a tournament he has competed in more times than perhaps anyone. Also, "The New
Flavor" Shane Strickland defeated Mr. 450, in spite of some most unique
circumstances. Early in the bout, the top rope snapped under the pressure of all
the action of the evening, leaving these two superstars with a propensity to fly
to adjust to their surroundings, and its safe to say neither missed a beat.
Although Strickland was victorious, Chuck Roberts announced that Mr. 450 will
join Corey Hollis, Mike Rayne & HD Cannon in a four-way second chance scramble
at Super Indy XII. These four men were all unsuccessful at making it into Super
Indy however one man will have a chance to procure the final spot the night of
the event.
In addition, three invitees were announced and they did not disappoint. AAA
stand-out Extreme Tiger will be making a rare U.S. appearance to challenge for
the crown. Former TNA & ROH star Jimmy Rave, last seen in IWC nine years ago,
and a man who has battled and overcome substance abuse and addiction problems,
and currently uses those experiences to educate and help others in need, brings
his positive energy and incredible comeback story to IWC in an attempt to
capture the Super Indy Title. Finally, the newest stand-out in ROH is ACH, and
he will be making his IWC debut that night as well as he looks to quickly cement
himself as a top tier player. We are set for one of the most diverse and
unpredictable fields in tournament history!
It was a disastrous night, however, for the Founding Fathers. Dennis Gregory
suffered a shocking loss to rookie "HD" Cannon that stunned Gregory & many of
the Court Time faithful alike. Meanwhile, Jimmy Vega$ & Super Hentai came up
short in match against Jimmy Nutts & Joseph Brooks for a future IWC Tag Title
shot. Vega$ seemed especially frustrated at Hentai, who was the one pinned, at
the conclusion of the match and for the first time ever we saw one Founding
Father member walk away from another. Is there a malfunction in the junction
here?
Another shocker saw the apparently downfall of the Founding Fathers bodyguard
Rex Lawless. The 6'5" 260 pounder handily dominated We Are Rockstars, Aiden Veil
& Jordan Lennox, in the early going, particularly after a pre-match assault on
WAR by Nutts & Brooks. However, as Lawless muscled around both rock stars, he
seemed to go down with a knee or leg injury. WAR struggled to maneuver the big
man who continued to dominate despite being on his back, refusing to let either
opponent pin him and refusing to stop fighting and struggling. McChesney could
sense danger from the outside no doubt, and entered the ring to strike the
official, earning his man an automatic disqualification. While the result was
not clear-cut, WAR now have major bragging rights as the first men to bring down
the gigantic Lawless.
The bad blood between The Gambino Family & Blue Collar Slaughterhouse continued,
with Mickey & Marshall agreed to pay Chuck Roberts' fine in return for their
Mountain State Madness actions on the condition Chuck put them in a match
immediately, making the scheduled tag bout between Blue Collar and Andrew Palace
& Brian McDowell into a three-way elimination match. Blue Collar & The Gambinos
were more than happy to cross paths, not only wildly brawling with one another,
but taking turns trying to send messages to one another in the form of abusing
Andrew Palace. However, when things didn't seem to go The Gambinos' way, they
summoned an unknown female who presented the two with baseball bats. It's easy
to surmise what Mickey & Marshall did to Sagaris & McBride from here, earning an
automatic disqualification and elimination. Palace & McDowell were left to pick
up the pieces and earn themselves a victory, a lucky win they celebrated along
with Chest Flexor, Ginger, and Corey Futuristic as if they all had just won the
World Title.
