Recently, I had the opportunity to have a brief
word with Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Vega$ regarding his title defense
this Saturday night at the Big Butler Fair against Dennis Gregory.
Needless to say, Vega$ was anything but humble and seemed extremely
confident in a successful defense this weekend.

Q: Mr. Vega$, we're just
days away from your huge championship title defense against Dennis
Gregory. What's running through your mind right now?
A: Boy, I can't wait to hit
the beach, have some umbrella drinks with some dirty dancing freaks!
Q:
You've held that title proudly for seven months
now, but the way you went about winning it certainly can be deemed
questionable, capitalizing on Dennis Gregory's knee injury and
challenged him to an impromptu title match. Gregory's had several
months to stew over this. Do you think you crossed the line by
damaging Gregory's knee to that extent and are you fearful for what he
might do to try to exact revenge?
A: The only thing
questionable is the exact time it took me to beat him... I think the
time keeper gave him a couple more seconds, but I will get over it.
Now you ask if I think I crossed the line? Hell, NO!
Jimmy Vega$ comes to play and play hard... I'm a hitter,
not a quitter, and that night Denny was a quitter... HA HA!
Fearful? Baby, that's not in my vocabulary.
Revenge? He already got his revenge. He gave me a concussion in
White Oak so, in my mind, we are even.
Q:
Assess
your chances for victory in this all-important encounter. Gregory
has the momentum and the fan support. Will that affect the
outcome in your opinion?
A: Let me think about this
for a second... OK, I will say that Denny will lose AGAIN!
Denny might have momentum, but when he hits the wall a la Vega$, his
momentum will
be stopped... and stopped quick. You speak of fan
support... come on, everybody loves Jimmy Vega$... you know
that, baby!
Q: Well, I'm sure this will
be a historic title match of epic proportions. Thank you for your
time.
A: Trust me when I say
this: this match will go down in history one way or another.
I'm sure it will surprise everyone.
